Why Athletics are the Keys for Success:
If we are building our athletic program as an overall organization that strives for the best, we will not overlook academics. Knowledge will be the real key for success. Students will gain this knowledge in every aspect of their life. We have discussed character, trust and leadership. These qualities are not reserved for the field or court. All players must believe in them at all times. The traits will be upheld in the classroom. Everyone knows that sports will end at some point for all people. Your knowledge does not end.
• Our Leaders will be the best students in the classroom.
• We will glorify Academic All-State Selections.
• We must pass to play.
• Failure is unacceptable.
• Each coach will track the progress of their student-athletes.
Building Bridges:
There must be a common bridge between the athletic arena and the classroom. Our coaches will set the example for this project. We will be great teachers. We must build a relationship with all teachers at all times. We will be on time for all meetings and duties. We will attend performances of all programs in the district. There will be communication between coaches and teachers, not pressure. To honor our educators a senior player will nominate a “Teacher of the Week”. That person will be honored and recognized by the team at that week’s contest.
Support Program:
We will send rosters of all teams before the start of the season to all teachers. Any academic or discipline issues with an athlete will be dealt with accordingly. We want an open line of communication between coaches and teachers to avoid any surprises.
• Pass/Fail signatures by each teacher every two weeks.
• Mandatory tutorials for any player with a grade below a 75.
• Additional conditioning for any player with a zero on an assignment.
